Installation of a drain pipe for the kitchen sink with drain in the floor

When installing a drain pipe for a kitchen sink along with the drain attachment in the floor, you need to be able to assemble the drain and the parts together. To do this, you will need to attach the drain to the trap under the sink where it drops into the floor. To do this, you will need to apply putty and insert the drain into the bottom of the sink, attach the end piece, and then install the tee onto the bowl. Installing the sink drain is not too difficult, and you should be able to complete this job in a weekend if you follow some simple instructions.

Adding the sink drains

Start the installation by inserting the drain strainer into the bottom of the metal sink. Add the two washers that came with the drain strainer kit to the bottom of the drain strainer, then add the nut to hold it in place. Apply a small rim of putty to the strainer, then press it into the hole in the sink. You may also decide not to install the washers before installing the strainer, but instead screw them on from the bottom later. The latter can help you place the strainer closer to the sink.

Adding the end piece

After you have installed the strainer, you can attach the end piece. This is a part of the sink that attaches the strainer to the pipes, and it needs to be installed tightly into the sink. The pipe may be too long to fit comfortably under the sink. In this case, you should cut it with a hand saw or similar tool.

Once the pipe is properly installed, you can place a pipe nut on the edge of the end piece. The threaded edge of the nut should be facing the screen, and you should also place a single pipe washer over the ends of the end piece and then secure it to the bottom edge of the screen, tightening it first by hand and then with a wrench.

Adding the T-trap

Once the end piece is firmly in place, you should add the P-trap to the pipe. Add a washer to the beginning of the trap and then press it tight with the wrench. You may also need to use the pliers to tighten this part, as sometimes the end piece and the trap don't fit together very smoothly. Secure the trap to the end piece with a nut, and then add another washer and nut to the bottom of the trap. This will secure the trap to the drain side of your system. Fill the edges of the pipes with sealant and allow to dry.
