Repairing a lamp installed without a junction box

Use this simple step-by-step guide to remove the old lamp and install a new one with a suitable junction box. Turning off the power Go to the main switch box in your home and find the circuit breaker that powers the lamp you want to replace. Turn off the circuit breaker. Remove the old lamp Once you are satisfied that the fixture is no longer powered, remove the screws that secure it to the wall or ceiling and pull out the wiring.
