Signs that water pressure is too high

Have you experienced minor plumbing problems in your home? Although a leaky faucet handle may seem like an easy fix, it may indicate a larger problem.  The bigger problem is the potential damage to the plumbing system that high water pressure can cause. High water pressure can cause many problems throughout the property. In addition to leaks, damaged fixtures, and ruined seals, high water pressure can also damage the longevity of your water fixtures.

Lack of hot water

Hot, steaming showers are great, but does it seem like hot water is never enough? In this case, the problem may be water pressure. If the high water pressure makes the water run too fast, the hot water is also likely to run out quickly.

Leaks

Faucets, showerheads and pipes can leak when water pressure is too high. Sometimes all faucets may drip continuously, which means water is lost! Faucets can also spit and spray water rapidly when they are turned on.

Loud and crackling pipes

When you turn off the faucet, do you hear a noise similar to that of a hammer? This phenomenon is called “water hammering” and can be caused by excessive water pressure in the main pipe of the house. The high water pressure causes the pipes to bang together whenever the water flow stops or changes. This sound is certainly annoying, but it can also be harmful. Water hammering often loosens plumbing connectors and can even break pipes.

Expensive water bills

If your water bill suddenly increases or if you are paying more than your neighbors, it may be an undiagnosed plumbing problem. Again, the cause could be high water pressure. The reason is that high water pressure causes more water to be consumed.
