Repairing a tap: how to repair a loose handle

Turn off the water

Turning off the water will prevent water leaks when working on the plumbing in your home. Make sure that the shut-off valve is completely closed. It is usually located under the sink, often in the back of the cabinet. If the valve is not located under the sink, the main shut-off valve in the house must be turned off. Remove the handle

Remove the handle from the tap. This is fixed with a screw at the top of the handle or at the back. It may be covered by a cover that must be carefully removed using a flat-blade screwdriver. If the handle itself is screwed in, you may need to use a spanner to remove it.

Check the washing machine
