Reasons for replacing the toilet chain

The toilet cabinet includes a chain, which works with a simple mechanism. Water fills the tank and is shut off when the floating ball turns it off. When the flush button is pressed, a chain lifts a rubber flapper, followed by the opening of a hole in the bottom of the cabinet that makes the water drain into the bowl. The chain is the vital part of the system and also the main cause of many problems. Below are the reasons why the toilet chain needs to be replaced.

Incomplete flushing of the toilet

Incomplete flushing means that during flushing, the handle must be held down to empty the bowl. The cause of the problem is usually a chain that is too large, which prevents the door from being pulled up easily or from falling down quickly. Simply shorten the chain by moving the hook on the flapper.

The toilet runs continuously

This problem can have several causes, but if it is due to the chain, there are two main reasons: either the chain is too short or too long. If the chain is too short, it does not allow the flapper to rest on the seat. In this case, simply unhook it and loosen it a little. If the chain is too long, it hangs from the flapper and, during rinsing, slips under it, preventing it from sealing properly. In this case, simply cut off the excess chain.

Broken chain

Toilet lifting chains break due to corrosion. It happens mostly when you try to flush the toilet and suddenly, instead of the normal flushing noise and the usual resistance, you hear a metallic sound of a chain falling from inside the cabinet (tank). The handle also feels loose. Replacing the chain is a simple operation. Simply connect the lifting arm with one hook and the baffle with the other, leaving enough space for the baffle to fall and seal itself. Finally, cut off the excess chain.
