Overload signs on the circuit breaker panel

 Power failures

Fuses and circuit breakers must be replaced and reset frequently. Fuses that blow or blow too often are a sign of electrical overload. Storms, lightning, floods, earthquakes and high winds can be a source.

Switchboard overload

Secondary circuits determine the current and safe operating amperage capacity. Electrical panels can often contain fuses or circuit breakers with currents higher than the existing capacity requires. An imminent problem can be around the corner if a current overload occurs.

Sparks

Flashes of light or sparks are a sure sign of danger lurking in any electrical installation. Turn off the power and examine the electrical switch carefully for burning smells or traces of smoke. To be on the safe side, if nothing can be found, consult an electrician.

Overheating

It is not abnormal for switch plates, wall socket covers, cables and even plugs to be hot. However, they should never be painful to the touch. Overheating of the switch box can be a sure sign of overloading and is a dangerous condition that requires immediate action.

Humming

Buzzing sounds from the electrical switch panel are an acoustic signal that indicates the presence of an overload or worn parts that need to be replaced. If the buzzing stops, a more thorough inspection is still necessary. The buzzing sound could be the result of a mechanical vibration or contact arc. It is also possible that the sound comes from the bimetallic strip that triggers the switch.

Frayed or damaged insulation

Any cut, damaged or cracked wiring insulation is a possible sign of old age or an overload of electrical current. As soon as this condition is discovered, do not hesitate to have the wiring replaced.
